About our concrete contractor company in Hoover

How I got into concrete and opened in Hoover
I started out as a helper on a small concrete crew, hauling, raking and doing whatever they handed me, and I learned this trade one pour at a time. In 2020 I opened A&B Hoover Concrete Construction here in Hoover. These days we're best known for driveways, patios and steps that drain right and stay put. Most of our calls come from homeowners, along with folks planning a new slab or a foundation.
What I care about most is the part nobody sees, because good concrete on bad ground won't hold up no matter how nice the top looks. I also want you to understand your own job, so I'll walk you through what we're doing and why, right there in your driveway. If you've got cracks, a slab that's sinking or a new pour in mind, use our contact page and I'll come take a look.

What working with our crew is like
These are the things you'll notice from the first visit to the day you walk on your new concrete. They come from how I learned the trade and what I've seen hold up.
The person who looks at your job is there for the pour
I come out myself to look at the job, and I'm on site with our own crew when we pour. The plan we talk through in your yard is the plan they build, and nothing gets lost between the estimate and the day the truck shows up.
Most of the care goes under the slab
We dig out and pack the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, and check where the water runs, because a slab on loose dirt settles and one that tips toward your house sends water at your foundation. That base is hidden on day one and it's the first thing some budgets cut, so if something has to give, I'd rather spend on the base than on a fancier finish.
Quotes that show what's in and what's out
Your estimate spells out what's included, like tearing out the old slab, the base work and cleanup, and what isn't, so you're comparing whole jobs and not just a number. If something can't be known until the old concrete is up, we'll tell you that up front.
Licensing, insurance and permits in Hoover
Fully licensed and insured
Fully licensed and insured. The work at your house is done by a business set up to do it properly, so you aren't the one carrying the risk while our crew is working on your property.
Permits checked before we set a pour date
In Hoover, the city's Building Inspections Department issues building permits, and the city wants a residential building permit in place before construction starts. We check with the building office for your address before we schedule anything, and when a permit is called for, we handle the paperwork and leave room in the plan for inspections so the job doesn't stall halfway.
